Cal Lane Holds Slim Lead Heading Into Championship Sunday at Lake Eufaula
Alabama Pro Maintains Top Spot as Rain-Soaked Conditions Shake Up Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit Standings
EUFAULA, Okla. — With heavy rains falling across much of Lake Eufaula and anglers battling rapidly changing conditions, Alabama pro Cal Lane managed to do exactly what a tournament leader needs to do — stay on top.
Lane brought 15 pounds, 15 ounces to the scales on Day 2 of the Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit Stop 5 Presented by K&N Filters, giving him a two-day total of 37 pounds, 10 ounces and a narrow lead heading into Championship Sunday.
While the leaderboard shifted dramatically behind him due to changing weather conditions and inconsistent fishing patterns, Lane remained steady enough to hold onto first place as the field was cut to the top 43 anglers. His position at the top was secured late in the day when he landed a crucial 4-pound bass that helped separate him from a tightly packed field.
Rain Creates Challenges Across Lake Eufaula
Saturday’s competition proved far more difficult than the opening round as anglers spent much of the day fishing through varying levels of rainfall.
The wet conditions created opportunities for some anglers while making it difficult for others to stay on productive fish. As a result, several competitors made major moves up the standings while others saw their hopes of reaching Championship Sunday disappear.
Drew Boggs of Lebanon, Tennessee, was one of the biggest movers of the day. Boggs weighed in 19 pounds, 15 ounces and climbed into second place with a two-day total of 36 pounds, 11 ounces, just one pound, one ounce behind Lane.
Banks Shaw of Harrison, Tennessee, recorded the largest bag of the day at 20 pounds, 6 ounces. His strong performance pushed him into third place with 34 pounds, 10 ounces.
Meanwhile, Drew Gill and Adam Lynn continued their consistent performances and rounded out the top five entering the final round.
Lane Grinding Out Key Bites
Although Lane remained in first place, he admitted the day was anything but easy.
“It was a grinder,” Lane said after weigh-in.
While he managed to catch more fish than he did during the opening round, he noted that the quality simply wasn’t there. Still, a late-day 4-pound bass proved to be one of the most important catches of the tournament so far.
Lane said he feels confident he can catch a limit on Championship Sunday but remains uncertain about the size of the fish available in his areas.
The Alabama angler has spent much of the week targeting shallow-water fish throughout different sections of the lake, a strategy that has allowed him to adapt as conditions change.
Extensive Practice Paying Off
One reason for Lane’s success may be the extensive scouting work he completed before the tournament began.
Rather than focusing on a single area, Lane spent practice days covering nearly every section of Lake Eufaula searching for productive stretches of water.
According to Lane, much of the lake appeared unproductive during practice, but he was able to identify a handful of key areas that have continued to produce quality bass throughout the event.
His willingness to run long distances and fish multiple locations has given him options as changing weather and rising water levels impact fish behavior.
With some parts of the Eufaula watershed receiving more than three inches of rain in the past 24 hours, those options could prove critical during the final day of competition.
Tight Race Sets Up Exciting Finale
With only a little more than a pound separating first and second place, Sunday’s championship round promises plenty of drama.
The top five anglers entering the final day are:
- Cal Lane (Grant, Alabama) – 37-10
- Drew Boggs (Lebanon, Tennessee) – 36-11
- Banks Shaw (Harrison, Tennessee) – 34-10
- Drew Gill (Mount Carmel, Illinois) – 34-8
- Adam Lynn (Culleoka, Tennessee) – 33-11
Several anglers remain within striking distance of the lead, meaning a single big bass could dramatically alter the standings.
Adding to the unpredictability is Lake Eufaula itself, a fishery known for producing dramatic final-day turnarounds.
Big Bass Honors Go to Carter Nutt
While Lane maintained the tournament lead, Carter Nutt of Nashville, Tennessee, earned the Day 2 Berkley Big Bass Award with an impressive largemouth weighing 6 pounds, 2 ounces.
Overall, the 111 professional anglers competing on Saturday brought 476 bass to the scales weighing a combined 1,173 pounds, 1 ounce. The day’s catch included 68 five-fish limits, highlighting the overall productivity of Lake Eufaula despite difficult weather conditions.
Championship Sunday Awaits
The remaining 43 anglers will launch Sunday morning from Nichols Point Boat Ramp in Eufaula for the final day of competition.
The eventual winner will be determined by the highest cumulative three-day weight and will earn a top prize worth up to $135,000.
Fans can attend the launch and weigh-in events in person or follow the action live through MLFNOW!, which will provide coverage throughout the day.
With a narrow lead, changing conditions, and a field full of talented anglers chasing him, Cal Lane’s quest for another major victory is far from over. Championship Sunday at Lake Eufaula is shaping up to be one of the most exciting finishes of the 2026 Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit season.
