Obituary for Kenneth Speer

In loving memory of Kenneth “Coach” Speer Jr., who entered into eternal rest on May 7, 2025, at the age of 83, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Kenneth was born on January 3, 1942, in Seminole, Oklahoma, to the late Kenneth Sr. and Pauline (Williams) Speer. On June 22, 1963, he was united in holy matrimony with Joyce Pickett in Seminole, Oklahoma. Together, they attended the First Baptist Church in Henryetta and Crystal Springs.

Kenneth was a proud graduate of Seminole High School, class of 1960, and furthered his education at East Central University and the University of Oklahoma. He dedicated his life to education, teaching in the communities of Seminole, Maude, Schulter, and Henryetta. As a respected coach, he led teams in both football and track, and he concluded his professional journey as a cherished school superintendent.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Joyce Speer, of their home; his sons, Todd Speer and his wife Amanda of Broken Arrow, and Kenny Speer II and his wife Jamie of Shawnee. He was a cherished grandfather to Zac Speer and his fiancée Rebecca, Kaden Speer and his wife Kristin, and Dax Speer; and a doting great-grandfather to Eden Speer.

Kenneth is also survived by his special brother-in-law, Gerald Pickett and his wife Dana of Seminole, their daughter Taryn, her husband Justin Harder, and their children Aspyn and Korbyn; his brother, Bobby Speer and his wife Kathy of McAlester, and their daughter Kelly and Robin.

The family invites you to join them in a visitation and celebration of Kenneth’s life on Sunday, May 11, at Rogers Funeral Home Chapel from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The Speer family expresses their gratitude for your support and prayers during this time of remembrance.
